Sponsored Charity Walk

Today has been our sponsored walk day and the boys have certainly taken on the challenge. They have had tasty energy food, in the form of corn and cheese muffins and pasta, from Mrs Walsh to keep their strength up! At the end of the day there was a cake bake organised by the PA, which really got the energy levels back up to scratch.

Year 1 was the first year group to go. We had to change the venue to around the block opposite school, as it had been raining so much during the night. The boys set tremendous pace, avoiding puddles along the way. The boys in Reception went next and they didn’t want to walk just a half mile, so they have walked a mile each too! Meanwhile back at school, the Nursery boys did not want to be left out. They have all climbed the 43 steps up to 2M and 43 steps back down to the Nursery, to match the number of miles on the Howards Way Walk.

Finally, after lunch, Year 2 hit the field; they even had a couple of special guests walking with them, Mr MacDonald and Mr Nick Grecian, who organises the Howards Way Walk each year. We all had lots of fun and the boys all truly deserve their certificates. I have thoroughly enjoyed my day of walking with our Falcons superstars.

The boys are extremely proud to be a part of all of this and are now ready to collect their sponsor money.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to you all. I have been bowled over by the amount of support I have received from the staff, the parents and the boys.

I have a couple of special thank yous, Mr Milne for allowing me to do all of this and wear my lovely pink crocs, Mr Weyers for all the promotion on the website and in the newsletters, the PA for all of their support and of course the 2M boys who are just so excited about the whole thing, including the moody cows. It was a real boost to hear your messages of support whilst I was walking, somebody checked the ‘Just Giving’ site each night and shouted all the messages to us at dinner, the encouragement was amazing.

Please give your sponsor forms and money to your class teacher next week, any cheques need to be made payable to ‘Howards way Walk’, and I will hopefully be able to let you know the total amount raised in next week’s newsletter. We have already raised nearly £1000 from your kind donations to the website and the collection.
