Year 2 Trip to RAF Hendon

The year 2 boys headed to Hendon first thing on Thursday for their day at the Royal Air Force Museum.  As the boys are learning more about the World Wars in history this term we were particularly interested in the aeroplanes and people from these times.  The boys (and even the adults) had an opportunity to dress up in RAF uniforms and learn more about all the badges on the jackets.

The sound and light show about the Blitz during World War 2 was fantastic and the boys also had a chance to sit in the cockpit of some aeroplanes.  The packed lunches were a hit with everybody although Miss Stewart tried to talk a few of the boys into parting with their Kit-Kats.  Between exploring the halls filled with aeroplanes, helicopters and other flying objects, the boys also had a chance to play in the Aeronauts Interactive Gallery.  We all had a great day out.  A big thank you again to Mrs Crabb who came along.

We were so pleased with the boy’s behaviour, particularly as a Year 6 teacher from another school at RAF Hendon said ‘I just had to come over and tell you how impressed I am at how well behaved your boys are!’

It was a very busy day, so busy that some of the boys fell asleep on the coach on the way back! Luckily all the girls were awake to take some photos.
