Message from the Headmaster:
It has been wonderful to be back this week. We welcomed the boys back on Monday with open arms. I went into each classroom by 8:45 on Monday and all the boys were completely settled and at that point in the day there were no tears at all. I was pleased to see an almost full turn out at our curriculum evenings and what was even more comforting was the fact that there were so few questions asked at the end. This to me, as a head, signals trust in our staff. The Falcons family has welcomed two new heads this week, Miss Buchanan at the Prep in Richmond and Mrs Williams-Ryan at our Girls School. Both of them have no doubt hit the ground running and I have thoroughly enjoyed chatting to them over the phone or via email. We are excited by the news of our Prep school expanding in 2019, and Mrs Williams-Ryan and I have been planning co-ed EYFS events for this academic year, so watch this space. Our Alpha Plus CEO, Mr Hanley-Browne and Director of Schools, Mrs Jenny Stephen, visited us today which was lovely, as we always welcome our head office expertise. I spent a fair bit of time in the nursery this week and I was firmly put in my place by a boy who has been coming through our gates since he was a babe in arms as he is a sibling of a past pupil. He said to me when I had directed my attention to another boy, “Hello anybody home?” as he tapped me on the shoulder. I considered myself firmly “told off,”! Our marketing manager, Mrs Jarvis has really got our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram up and running. Please join these groups, follow us and share our news. We have an outstanding parent talk (by James Shone) planned for 3rd October at 8PM in our hall entitled ‘Raising a whole child – beyond academics.’ Tickets are being sold through jumblebee: www.jumblebee.co.uk/falconsboyspa. I hope many of you can make the afternoon tea on Monday next week at 4 p.m. at the Prep with Miss Buchanan and myself.
