A short week but busy as ever

This week has been an exceptionally busy week. We have had a shorter four day week but  I am sure, like all work places, we have tried to fit a five day week into four.

Our Year 2 boys were straight back into the swing of things and went off to play Wetherby School cricket on Tuesday afternoon.  We had a mixed bag of results but I was pleased to see a few wins in there.

Reception chose the wettest day of the week to go to the Wetland Centre in Barnes on Wednesday (they were in good company with all the ducks!)  The rain did not dampen their spirits and they had a great trip.  The incubator with chicken eggs also arrived and we have been waiting with bated breath for the chicks which started to hatch today!  The boys learn so much from these experiences.  I, too, have been hovering around the incubator as this takes me back to my African farming roots.

We welcomed Ms McLaughlin to our school community on Wednesday evening.  We had a fantastic turn out with about 75 adults.  She spent a large part of the day with us meeting  the staff, the incoming heads of PA and many of the parents.  I thought the evening was a huge success and I am so pleased to be handing over this wonderful school to her.  Liz will be joining us for welcome day and will spend a few more days here whilst I handover to her.  She told me she felt very welcome and she is really looking forward to starting here in September.

Our Nursery boys went to the Fire Station in Chiswick today.  This is a firm favourite of the boys.  Boys and fire trucks, right up their street.

The boys who do Lamda exams were whisked off to the Girl’s School to complete their first Lamda exams – I am sure they did well.

Please remember that Year 1 have future schools meetings week after next; Robins on Wednesday 22nd and Jays on Thursday 23rd May 4-7PM.  You will need to book a time slot in the office and the meetings are with myself and the Year 1 class tutors.  We will not be running a creche on these evenings therefore, if you require child care, please bring your son with you with something for him to do and he can spend time in the school office while we meet.

We have the Year 2 Lodge Hill trip coming up soon, please ensure that you have returned all the paperwork to Mr Grant.

Wishing you all, as ever, a wonderful weekend with your boys.
