Science

The science curriculum at Falcons School for Boys develops pupils’ natural curiosity about the world by providing opportunities for practical investigation in science. The boys at our Preparatory site (Years 3 to 8) are taught by a specialist science teacher in fully equipped, purpose-built laboratories. Biology, chemistry and physics are taught as discrete disciplines. The science lessons are based upon an interactive approach in which pupils solve problems through scientific investigations.

We organise classes in such a way that pupils are able to participate in discussion and experimentation. We offer children the opportunity to hear visiting speakers, such as scientists, doctors, parents and representatives from the local community, whom we invite into the school to talk about their role in promoting scientific knowledge.

Practical experiments are carefully designed to illustrate concepts included in Common Entrance examinations. Pupils discover many scientific facts for themselves and this ensures that science is a popular academic subject. Our students produce impressive results every year in Common Entrance and scholarship examinations, and when they move on to their senior schools our students not only have an excellent knowledge of the subject but they also have exemplary practical skills.
